Tracing the Acadian Borders

Tracing the Acadian Borders

  • Christina Keppie , Department of Modern and Classical Languages
  • When: 02/09/10, 12:00 p.m.
  • Where: College Hall 131

As part of Canada Week, Dr. Keppie discusses her interviews with New Brunswick Francophones about the Acadian identity and its relationship to space and territory. Acadia is known as "un pays sans frontières" - a country without borders yet in a time when the Acadian identity is so diverse (it varies from region to region for many reasons). The talk explores how NB Francophones physically orient Acadia and how they relate it to the question of what it means to be Acadian.
